ABC Ratings: |
This episode aired as a two-hour installment following
Lost, which was also created by J.J Abrams. Alias scored 11.3/16
in the Neilson ratings, with Lost gaining 13.8/20. The ratings mark
the second highest drama in the timeslot, with an episode of Dr.
Quinn Medicine Woman which aired in 1994 holding the topspot. Although
the viewership decreased with every half hour, the episode held its
own making it a success for ABC. A good start to the season. |

Notes: |
- For the
fourth season, the big reveal from the season three finale
had to be changed in order to re-direct the season. In"Resurrection,"
Sydney finds a series of documents proving her father has been
tracking both her development and Nadia's since childhood as
part of a classified Rambaldi research project. However, for
"Authorised Personnel Only" J.J Abrams changed this to a revelation
that Jack ordered Irina's death.
- "Authorised
Personnel Only" marks the thirteenth and fourteenth episodes
written by J.J Abrams. This is also the last episode he wrote
for the series, and Jeff Melvoin's only episode.
- Ken Olin
has now directed a grand total of 21 episodes of Alias.
- The set
of APO is a no-stain zone. Cast and crew are not allowed to
eat or drink anything in the area in case it stains the white
tiles.
- The characters
all receive new callsigns for entering APO: Sydney is Pheonix,
Dixon is Outrigger, Vaughn is Shotgun, Jack is Raptor, Nadia
is Evergreen and Marshall is Merlin.
- In the opening
mission sequence, Vaughn speaks some Russin which is different
to what appears in the subtitles. He says "Horoshie siski"
which actually means "Nice
boobs."
- Although
the episode was directed by Ken Olin, J.J Abrams also developed
a few re-shoots after he ws unhappy with the way the episode
turned out.
- In America,
the new season of Alias usually starts in September. However,
for the fourth season the show was held back until January
so episodes could air on a weekly basis without interruption.
