In the United Kingdom, the first half of the first season is available to own on VHS for the first time. Produced by Universal Playback, each video contained two or three episodes from the first season. The full series was never released on VHS and "The Scarecrow Returns" was the last episode to be released. The complete first season was later released on region 2 DVD.

"Decision/Truth"
"Decision" and "Truth" were released on video before any other, as expected of the first two episodes of any series. But the unusual thing is, they were the only ones released. Months passed before other videos were released, and when they were, they were completely repackaged, containing three episodes per video.
It's possible that this video was intended as a taster to see if the British public was interested in the series, or it could be that the manufacturer decided it would be better to have three episodes per video instead.

"Volume 1"
1.1 "Decision", 1.2 "Truth" and 1.3 "Old Flame"

The first three episodes of the stunning sci-fi/drama which took the world by storm, becoming the most anticipated show of the fall 1997 season. However, "Old Flame" is actually episode five of the season, and replaced "Miracle" for this release.

"Volume 2"
1.4 "Avatar", 1.5 "Miracle" and "1.6 "Scorpions Dream"

The second three episodes of the series. Interestingly, these episodes were released out of order. "Miracle" is actually episode three of the season and "Scorpions Dream" is episode nine.

"Volume 3"
1.7 "Float Like A Butterfly", 1.8 "Resurrection" and 1.9 "Horizon Hero"

Because the previous volume's episodes were released out of sequence, these episodes are slightly off too - these episodes are actually episodes six, seven and eight. And "Horizon Hero" is actually called "Horizon Zero".

"Volume 4"
1.10 "Live Free Or Die", 1.11 "Sandoval's Run" and 1.12 "The Scarecrow Returns"

The episodes on this video are actually the only ones to be shown in order and with the correct episode numbers attached to them.
